The theme of the NICON 2014 conference is @Better Together - Improving Outcomes Through Innovation and Implementation@. We strongly believe this title sets out the strategic themes that we should address to meet the needs of communities now and into the future. The list of changes seems endless; providing new models of care, using technology, focusing on safety, empowering staff, service users and carers as well as developing new relationships with public, voluntary community and independent sectors, all at a time when we are also seeking to develop new cultures of openness and transparency. We have begun, but there is still much to do. It is simply imperative that we implement positive changes to Health and Social Care Services and that we show an urgency in delivery.
